When you think about quality it is easy to conjure up images of country hotels, bespoke Saville row suits and classic sports cars…
Not so easy when you are talking about portable toilets…
The simple plastic portable toilet is more likely to be associated with negative feelings and unpleasant memories of using overly full toilets at busy outdoor events.
But at D-tox, we have tried hard over the years to make sure the toilets we supply go out to sites and events in the state that we would want to find them in if we were using them ourselves.
We started as a family business, and a generation on, we still are, and I think that has helped us maintain our desire to give customers the best possible experience when using our products.
I admit it is not always easy and often customers don’t listen to the advice we give on how many units they may need for their sites or events, and they may choose to save money by having less than the recommended amount of toilets. When this happens it can be a struggle to maintain the quality that we would normally, but thankfully most people listen to our advice and there are no issues.
Quality starts with good products and although most portable toilets on the market are very similar it is the level to which they are maintained that makes a difference.
We go to great lengths to ensure all our toilet stock is clean, damage free and fit for purpose, and we achieve this by having a dedicated yard staff whose sole responsibility is to clean and repair our toilets.
We also keep separate stock for our event customers as we understand the impact on a toilet that has been on a building site for a year, and we know they are not then in the best condition to be hired out for a weekend event.
It has certainly become more difficult to maintain our quality levels as we have gotten busier, as more work means more staff and with more staff often the quality levels can suffer. So, we have invested in training our staff and all new staff members now undergo an in-house online training programme that discusses in depth the expectations that we put upon them when they start working at Dtox.
We then follow this up by regular quality control checks on all our service drivers, so we know they are carrying out our portable toilet emptying and servicing to the required standard.
We don’t always get it right and there are times when we have dropped the ball, but when we make mistakes, you can guarantee we pull out all the stops to rectify them, and that’s because we care about what we do and keeping our customers happy.
And that for us is what Quality is all about.
