4 Signs You Need To Service Your Portable Toilet

TELL TALE SIGNS YOU NEED A PORTABLE TOILET OR WELFARE SERVICE

If you are hiring a portable toilet for more than one week, you are guaranteed a weekly toilet service & clean from us. Maybe you already own a portable toilet and just need the the odd empty, or on the flip side, your portable toilet is always busy and you need extra servicing in the week. What signs should you look out for and when should you call us in?

1. THE TOILET IS NO LONGER BLUE AND IS LOSING IT'S PLEASANT ODOUR.

Many portable toilets have a recirculating flush that at the beginning of your hire or after a service, will be full of fresh non-potable water with an added blue chemical which kills germs, breaks up waste and deodorises the toilet. As the toilet is used more and more frequently the liquid will become diluted with waste and will start to lose it’s blue colour. The perfumed smell of the ‘blue’ will start to be replaced with unpleasant odours.

If you’ve noticed the difference after a few days then you probably need an extra midweek service on your portable toilet. If your toilet is used infrequently but you’ve started to notice the changes then these are sure signs that your portable toilet needs an empty and refresh.

2. WATER FROM THE TOILET OVERLAPS THE PAN BEFORE THE TOILET IS USED

If your waste holding tank is full, not only will see a change in the blue colour and unwanted smells but you may start to see water from the flush tank overlapping the pan.  If you see this then it means that the holding waste tank is full and needs an empty as soon as possible.

Try to pre-empt this from happening by keeping to the industry standards of 1 standard portable toilet for 7 people over a 40 hour period. Additional use or strain on the unit could mean more frequent emptying.

At an event for example, where food and drink are usually in vast supply, your need will increase and you may wish to consider the additional hire of urinals to take the strain off your portable toilet use.

3. CLEANLINESS OF THE TOILET HAS STARTED TO REDUCE

If you begin to see a reduction in cleanliness of the floor, sink and toilet, then this is also a sign to get a service booked in. The unit’s overall sanitation goes hand in hand with the inner toilet’s capacity. So full toilet = dirty toilet unit, one will always affect the other.

If you have long term toilet hire at construction sites for example it's best to have a regular service scheduled in as this will potentially be used a lot, especially if its in a high traffic area.

4. THERE IS NO FRESH WATER / ANTIBACK LIQUID TO WASH / CLEANSE MY HANDS

On the bright side it does mean that people are cleaning their digits! Our clean water sink tank holds 45 litres of water, so there’s plenty  to last. So , if you’re fresh water is low or depleted, then it’s time to book in a service. If your gel dispenser is low, we will also top this up during your service too if you request it.
